Privacy Policy

The purpose of this policy is to inform users how various data is collected while accessing Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) websites. This data may include personal identifiable information (PII) and other non-PII data often gathered for web traffic and analytic purposes.

"Personal identifiable information" (PII) means any representation of information that permits the identity of an individual to whom the information applies to be reasonably inferred by either direct or indirect means. Further, PII is defined as information that directly identifies an individual (e.g., name, address, social security number or other identifying number or code, telephone number, email address, etc.), or by which an agency intends to identify specific individuals in conjunction with other data elements (i.e. indirect identification). These data elements may include a combination of gender, background, birth date, geographic location, and other descriptors. 

Individuals are not asked to provide PII when visiting OESC's website to view, print or download publicly accessible information that is made available as a public record according to Oklahoma law; however, if an individual utilizes or requests a service offered through OESC, then PII may be requested to determine eligibility, authenticate identity, provide the requested service, or to validate other necessary information.

General information about an individual's visit to OESC websites will be gathered routinely. The information collected is used to improve the content on the website and help OESC understand how users access, browse, and interact with the site. This information may include, but is not limited to:

• Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)
  
• Operating system (e.g. Macintosh or Windows)
• Device type (e.g. desktop, mobile phone, tablet)
• Pages visited on our site
• Length of time spent on our pages

Individuals may choose to subscribe to receiving notifications by email or phone from OESC, but are given the opportunity to "opt-out" at any time. In some cases, requesting for services offered through OESC may require individuals to provide one or more contact methods, and these methods may be used by OESC to communicate to the individual regarding the service being utilized or requested, or other information related to the service being provided. 

Any contact information (e.g. email or phone) obtained by OESC will not be sold, or in any way provided to an external company or entity for marketing purposes. All PII, including contact information, collected by OESC is subject to the access and confidentiality provisions of the Oklahoma Code and federal law. 

OESC is committed to the data security of PII and has taken reasonable precautions to protect PII from loss, misuse or alteration. Any third parties responsible for this information are committed to the same principles, and also are required by contract to follow the same policies and guidelines as the State of Oklahoma in protecting this information. Unless otherwise prohibited by state or federal law, rule or regulation, the individual is granted the ability to access and correct PII whether or not the information inaccuracy was accidental or created by unauthorized access.

Various web sites may be linked to through OESC's websites. Visitors to those sites are advised to check each sites privacy policies and terms of use, and be cautious about providing any personal information without a clear understanding of how the information will be collected, utilized and stored.

OESC utilizes Adobe Analytics to collect information about the use of Oklahoma.gov/OESC and Google Analytics for UI.ok.gov. Both of these tools collect standard analytics information such IP (Internet Protocol) addresses to measure how a site is accessed, browsed and interacted with. This information is used to further improve or enhance the sites and their features and services. PII is not collected by these tools; therefor, no association can be made between an individual's PII and the analytic information that is collected. Both Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics utilize cookies to identify site visitors and their interactions with OESC sites, and these cookies cannot be used by anyone else or for any other purpose. Google’s and Adobe’s ability to use and share information collected by their analytics tools is restricted by their Terms of Use and Privacy Policies. Individiauls can prevent Google or Adobe Analytics from collecting information by disabling cookies within the browser being utilized.
